Maintenance

Maintenance Guide

Regular maintenance keeps your laser performing at full spec. Most maintenance takes 5–15 minutes and should be done monthly or every 20–40 hours of use.

Lens cleaning (every 20–40 hours)

Remove the laser head nozzle and extract the focus lens. Clean the lens surface with a lens wipe or cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol (90%+). Wipe in circular motions from center outward. Never use paper towels — they scratch the coating. Reinstall and re-check focus height after cleaning.

Mirror cleaning (monthly)

Access each of the three reflective mirrors. Clean with a lint-free lens wipe moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Wipe gently without applying pressure — mirrors are front-coated and can be scratched. After cleaning, run a dot test on dimming paper to confirm beam alignment has not shifted.

Water cooling system (monthly)

Check the coolant level in the water pump reservoir. Top off with distilled water — never tap water or additives. Flush and replace the coolant every 3–6 months or when the water becomes cloudy. Algae growth in the cooling lines will eventually block flow and overheat the laser tube.

Rail and drive belt lubrication (every 3 months)

Apply a small amount of white lithium grease or silicone-based lubricant to the X and Y axis rails using a soft cloth. Wipe off excess. Check the drive belts for visible cracking or fraying. A loose belt causes banding artifacts in engrave jobs and inaccurate cuts.

Exhaust system inspection (monthly)

Check the exhaust hose for cracks, kinks, or loose connections. A leaking exhaust system allows laser fumes into the workspace. Verify that the exhaust fan is moving air actively during operation. Replace activated carbon filter media according to the filter manufacturer's schedule.

Laser tube visual inspection (monthly)

Visually inspect the CO2 laser tube for cracks, discoloration, or condensation inside the glass envelope. A healthy tube has a faint purple or pink glow when firing. Dimming output power over time indicates the tube is aging. Contact support when output power drops noticeably.
