Machine Setup Guide
Complete step-by-step walkthrough from unboxing to your first cut. Applies to our 100W and 130W CO2 laser cutters.
1. Unboxing and inspection
Remove all packaging materials and inspect the machine cabinet, lid, and lens assembly for shipping damage before powering on. Document any damage with photos and contact support@swyftrobotics.com before proceeding.
2. Placement and ventilation
Place the machine on a stable, level surface with at least 12 inches of clearance on all sides. Connect the exhaust hose to an exterior vent or activated carbon filter rated for laser fumes. Do not operate without ventilation.
3. Water cooling system
Fill the included water pump reservoir with distilled water. Connect the water pump inlet and outlet hoses to the laser tube fittings. Verify water flows before powering the laser. Low coolant flow will damage the laser tube.
4. Power and first boot
Connect the power cable to a grounded 110V / 60Hz outlet. Power on the machine using the main switch. The Ruida controller will initialize and display the home position. Do not run a job until mirror alignment has been verified.
5. Mirror alignment
Using the included dimming paper, verify that the laser beam exits centered from the first mirror, second mirror, and laser head nozzle. Adjust mirror set screws as needed using the included hex keys. Detailed alignment instructions are in the user manual included with your machine.
6. Focus height
Use the included focus gauge to set the correct distance between the laser head nozzle and your material surface. Correct focus height varies by material thickness. Incorrect focus produces burnt edges and poor cut quality.
7. Software installation
Install LightBurn (recommended) or RDWorks from the USB drive included with your machine. Connect the machine via USB or Ethernet and follow the software setup guide to add the machine profile.
8. First test cut
Cut a small test grid using the recommended settings for your material. Adjust speed, power, and pass count until edges are clean and the cut passes fully through. Save your working settings in LightBurn for future use.
